Stash of SAPS protective gear , ammunition and weapons recovered during raid, two arrested – How did the criminals obtain the SAPS items?

Police on Friday evening, 26 July 2019, traced and arrested two suspects in Hillbrow in a follow-up operation after police had earlier in the day recovered protective gear used by the South African Police Service Public Order Police at a block of flats in Hillbrow. The members found at Cape Agulhas building 24 SAPS helmets, 12 SAPS riot shields, and drugs including dagga, abandoned in a store room.

Police earlier in the day conducted an OKae Molao operation where a number of buildings in Hillbrow had been flagged as generating high volumes of contact crime.

Other buildings visited were Kirribilli, Eastgate, Florence Nightingale and O’Riley; and police arrested 22 undocumented foreign nationals, two suspects for possession of and dealing in drugs. Two illegal liquor outlets were closed and liquor confiscated. Three more suspects were arrested for business robbery at Joubert.

Law Officials that are supposed to protect and serve civilians are corrupt to the bone -13 Gauteng SAPS officers convicted of crime while 124 are awaiting trial and 3 for murder and attempted murder

Out of 13 SAPS convictions, four are for reckless and negligent driving and three for murder and attempted murder.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) said it was shocked to learn that only 13 Gauteng SAPS officers were convicted for committing crimes out of a 137 who were arrested of which 124 are still awaiting trial.

DA Gauteng MPL John Moodey said in a statement on Tuesday that these were only for cases reported over the last three financial years.

Moodey said this was revealed to him by the Gauteng MEC for community safety, Faith Mazibuko in a written reply to his questions in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.

According to MEC Mazibuko, 53 police officers were arrested and only six convicted in the 2016/17 financial year, 40 police officers were arrested and five convicted in 2017/18 financial year and 44 police officers were arrested and only two convicted in the 2018/19 financial year.

Five Chinese nationals arrested for human trafficking and prostitution in Polokwane

The South African Police Service in Limpopo continue to work tirelessly during the festive season period as an implementation of practical tactics to ensure safer environment for all citizens of the province.

Operation ‘Quiet Storm’, an intelligence led joint operations has led to the apprehension of more than sixty suspects for serious charges in a number of clusters, especially in crime infested areas.

In Polokwane, five Chinese nationals were arrested for human trafficking, dealing in prostitution, possession of suspected stolen goods and bribery.

Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, says the arrests emanated from a joint operation composing of specialised units and during the arrest, goods worth an estimated value of R100 000 were seized.

Corruption and bribery seems to be a general tendency in traffic department – Hawks arrest another bunch of corrupt traffic officials this time in the Cape Province

The Hawks arrested seven traffic officials for issuing drivers licenses for payment. A security guard and six female test officers will appear in court on complaints of fraud and corruption.

The violations at Khayalitsa have taken place since January 2015 and October 2018. It appears that these types of offenses are not eradicated, as licensing officers are shortly arrested for the same complaints.

The volunteer recently reported on the many North Transvaal workers arrested for the same crimes, and there seems to be a general tendency.
