Op 14 Augustus is dit jaarliks Afrikaanse Taaldag en word dit herdenk as die  geboortedag van Afrikaans want op die datum op 14 Augustus 1875 is die Genootskap van Regte Afrikaners (GRA) te Paarl gestig. Derhalwe is Afrikaans vanjaar 146 jaar oud. In die tydperk is Afrikaans uitgebrei tot akademiese en wetenskapstaal wat volgens Prof Wannie Carstens, bekende taalkundige, een van vyf vereistes vir oorlewing van enige taal is, wel, dit is totdat globalisme aangekom het…

Dit is daarom terselfdertyd tragies en ironies dat 14 Augustus 2021 aangedui word as die laaste dag waarop mense kommentaar kan lewer op die tweede konsep-weergawe van die Universiteit Stellenbosch se taalbeleid. On 14 August it was the Afrikaans Language’s birthday and it is commemorated as the birthday of Afrikaans because on this date of 14 August 1875, the Society of True Afrikaners (GRA) was founded in Paarl. Therefore, Afrikaans is 146 years old this year. During this period, Afrikaans was expanded to an academic and scientific language which, according to Prof Wannie Carstens, a well-known linguist, is one of five requirements for the survival of any language. well, until globalism arrived…

It is therefore at the same time tragic and ironic that 14 August 2021, is indicated as the last day on which people can comment on the second draft version of Stellenbosch University’s language policy. Third Duel of Barbers Showcases Barber’s Skills & Style, Lifts Industry Moral, But Also Gets Accused of Corruption & Match Fixing!

Nooitgedacht Wine Farm in Stellenbosch hosted the prestigious “Duel Of The Barbers” competition for which, not even a pandemic could stop contestants from taking part in the third “Duel Of The Barbers” showcase. With a total prize value of R230,000, this competition was one well worth competing in thanks to sponsors like WAHL, Fame, Superior Edge, Muk, Xsharp Hair and Beauty, Scissors On Main Paarl, etc. Unfortunately, the event is also leaving a bitter after-taste for some as one of the contestants, Graig Kok, accused a judge of being corrupt and the competition of match fixing in a social media post.

“Duel of The Barbers 2020” took place on 27 September. Despite of the difficult year the industry suffered, organiser, Antoinette Coetzee, also owner of Scissors on Main Paarl, decided to take the leap and host the competition. Coetzee say’s she wanted to “… lift the spirits and help re-build the industry.”

N1 horror: Paarl teacher killed by large rock thrown at her car

Police in Paarl are on the hunt for the senseless crooks who threw a large rock at an N1 motorist in Paarl. Michele Pietersen died instantly on-impact.

An utterly devastating development has reached us from the Western Cape on Thursday. Michele Pietersen, a teacher from Paarl, was killed when thugs threw a large rock at her car while she was travelling on the N1 outbound.

The retired educator was travelling in the vehicle with her husband. They were approaching Simonsvlei at around 2:00 this morning. Their journey was brought to a tragic halt when the rock smashed through the windscreen and hit the driver. Michele’s injuries were severe, and it’s understood she died instantly.

She used to work for the New Orleans Secondary School in Paarl. Her former employers described Michele as a “beloved friend and teacher”. The school released a statement on Thursday, sharing their deepest condolences:

The Bonnievale farm murders update: Arrest made in connection with death of elderly couple

A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of an eldery couple, who were found dead in a farm in Bonnievale this week.

Police have made a breakthrough in the Bonnievale farm murder case, in which an elderly couple were found in their property in the Cape Winelands.

Piet and Elmien Steyn, both in their 70s, were shot dead while they slept, and their property was raided, while a vehicle belonging to them was stolen.

It was the car that led to the gruesome discovery of the couple’s bodies, as it was after it was spotted driving close to town that police went to investigate the Zandfontein farm.

According to IOL, an arrest connected to the murder has now been made, after police detained a 33-year-old man in McGregor, a rural town not too far from the murder scene.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa says the man was found in possession of one of the couple’s belongings.

Disgusting is not a proper word! BLF Leader, Andile, Celebrates The Farm Murder Of 2 Elderly Couple Shot While Sleeping

In a shocking tweet posted on Friday the 14th of December 2018, the national spokesperson for Black First Land First, Lindsay Maasdorp, celebrated the brutal murder of an elderly couple, who was shot and killed whilst sleeping in their beds, on their farm in the Western Cape.

This comes after Black First Land First leader, Andile Mngxitama, last week said that for every one black person killed they would kill five white people, including women and children.

Two elderly victims, male and female, were both shot dead in their bed whilst sleeping according to Ian Cameron of Afriforum.

The SAHRC, as well as many civil rights organisations and political parties, indicated that they would lay charges against BLF and take the matter further legally.

Lobby group AfriForum recently reported that 22 farm attacks have been reported in the Western Cape since the start of this year.
