On 14 August it was the Afrikaans Language’s birthday and it is commemorated as the birthday of Afrikaans because on this date of 14 August 1875, the Society of True Afrikaners (GRA) was founded in Paarl. Therefore, Afrikaans is 146 years old this year. During this period, Afrikaans was expanded to an academic and scientific language which, according to Prof Wannie Carstens, a well-known linguist, is one of five requirements for the survival of any language. well, until globalism arrived…

It is therefore at the same time tragic and ironic that 14 August 2021, is indicated as the last day on which people can comment on the second draft version of Stellenbosch University’s language policy. How “Anti-Racism” Handicaps Blacks. Blacks & Liberal Whites Should Stop Treating Blacks like Disabled People!

Running Faster: A noteworthy piece posted on social media, claims to be from ex Public Protector Thuli Madonsela, although this is improbable, given she holds a chair in Social Justice at Stellenbosch University and would get fired if she dared spoke truth like this. However the source is irrelevant. It insightfully calls on blacks to stop using racism as a crutch and an excuse. Like SA-News has been saying, blacks need to take off their BBBEE nappy and grow up and raise their game. Otherwise they will never be equal because they will never see themselves as equal, instead of always seeing themselves as the victim, and constantly crying, or trying to profit from hurtful words. Liberal whites who constantly proclaim blacks are victims, are in effect saying they are superior to blacks and that blacks can’t survive without their virtue signaling!

Black people use racism as an excuse for their failures in a lot of things.

Stellenbosch University is being accused as a racist institution after previously disadvantaged groups are flaunting allegations left and right

Students are once again obsessed with the so-called racism used by whites and complain about things that have nothing to do with racism, says an educator who wants to remain anonymous.

One white man speaks to other whites on campus, ignoring the other coloured people who join it, and it is now called racism, it is said.

The whites also do not share their knowledge of a particular subject’s content with other students, except with their friends who are also whites.

One student complains that her roommate, who is white, does not speak to her father because she is black, and considers it a serious offense of racism.

Educators believe the complaints of other coloreds are considered to be those of people with an inferiority complex and should seek the fault within themselves. After all, it is logical for people to be more positive towards their own friends than to strangers.

Afrikaans as a language of instruction at Stellenbosch University will have to take a subordinate place – English will be the medium of instruction

In June 2016, Stellenbosch University decided that English would be the language of instruction and that Afrikaans should take a subordinate place.

The vote cast by 113 against 10 votes in favor of the resolution is a clear indication that Afrikaans is being rejected by the government and certain opposition parties.

On Thursday, the Constitutional Court ruled that the university’s decision to make English the main language, with Afrikaans in addition, is a “reasonable” decision that should remain so.

Language policy judgement explained
Judge Johan Froneman confirmed the bench’s unanimous decision on Thursday. He explained his reasons for upholding the contentious language policy at Stellenbosch University, reasoning that too many students on campus are unable to learn subject matter when taught in Afrikaans:

The doctors of the future! Not a single student from 5 universities, including UCT and Wits, passed their surgery exam

The Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA) says it is hoping that an investigation aimed at establishing why so many students failed the recent Fellowship of the College of Surgeons (FCS) exams will be wrapped up before the end of the year.

The CMSA started the investigation after only 15 of the 46 candidates who wrote the exam passed.

All of the candidates from the University of the Witwatersrand, University of Cape Town (UCT), University of Pretoria, Walter Sisulu University and University of the Free State failed the exam.

Only candidates from the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University, University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and Stellenbosch University had passed.

“We are concerned about the low pass rate – 44% – but we have instituted an investigation to look at the challenges students faced in the run up to the exams,” said CMSA president Dr Flavia Senkubuge.

A cancer drug offers more affordable treatment for diabetic retinopathy

Treatment for diabetic retinopathy can be expensive, especially in low and middle-income countries such as South Africa, but a recent doctoral study at Stellenbosch University (SU) found that a relatively cheap drug called bevacizumab could be effective.

“We found that injecting bevacizumab into the eyes could help treat diabetic eye disease and prevent blindness in people living in low and middle-income countries,” says Dr Jose Fernando Arevalo, chairperson of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Bayview Medical Center in the Wilmer Eye Institute at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore in America.

Aevalo, who is also the president of the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology, obtained his doctorate in ophthalmology at the second ceremony of SU’s December graduation.
