Legal action demanded against KZN businessman after comparing people at a Richards Bay beachfront with baboons

A businessman is in trouble after apparently comparing black people to baboons at a Richards Bay beachfront in a Facebook post.

Lorenzo Greyling, a KwaZulu-Natal businessman, allegedly made the statements on the Facebook group Selling Things in Richards Bay, after someone complained about the litter that was strewn on the beach after the 2019 uMhlathuze beach party.

“What do you expect from these barbarians? They don’t have manners, just like animals. Do you think a baboon or monkey picks up what he eats? No, they eat everything and just leave it on the floor, ”the post states. The placement was made on December 17 and has since been removed.

Slondile Mkhize, the speaker of uMhlathuze, now wants to take legal action against Greyling. He called on the Human Rights Commission to actually take action against Greyling and teach him “and others” to think twice before posting anything objectionable on social media.

South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa is the incoming new chair of the African Union for the year 2020.

South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to take over the chairmanship of the African Union for the year 2020, replacing Egypt’s Abdel Fattah el-Sisi who chaired the organization through 2019.

In his New Year’s address, the South African leader pledged to use the opportunity to rally Africa to actualize the Continental Free Trade Agreement, whose operational phase was launched in July in Niamey, Niger.

“From January, South Africa takes up its position as chair of the African Union. We will seek to work with our sister countries to realise an Africa Free Trade Area that stretches from Cape Town to Cairo, and from Dakar to Mombasa,” a statement from the South African presidency read.

Ahead of the assumption of the AU chairmanship, President Ramaphosa in November hosted the AU Commission chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat for talks.

Galoopy van Staden from Meyerton, Gauteng – Shot and killed by a hijacker, possibly also by someone pretending to be a customer as Galoopy was also a businessman.

Shaun Krull – A farmer shot and killed on his farm in the Eastern Cape.

Miemie Frost (72) – An elderly lady farming alone on her farm in Bethlehem, Free State. Her body was found dumped in the local graveyard.

BREAKING NEWS:- Another Farm Murder: Elderly couple slain in Western Cape

A married couple in their seventies were shot while they slept in the Western Cape, as police investigate another farm murder in the region.

An elderly couple in Bonnievale, Western Cape, have become the latest victims of a farm murder in South Africa. Both Piet and Elmien Steyn were shot dead in their beds while they slept, as thugs raided the property and stole a vehicle that belonged to the pair.

The news has been confirmed by local police sources on Friday morning. The Steyns were both in their seventies, and appear to have been targeted due to their remote location – the most common motive in all cases like these.

Provincial police spokesperson Sgt Noloyiso Rwexana told TimesLive that these tragic events unfolded on the Zandfontein farm. The region is about a two-hour drive outside of Cape Town.
