This is Cape Town’s biggest annual music event. Over 40 international and local jazz artists perform over a 2 day period in the Mother City.
Affectionately referred to as “Africa’s Grandest Gathering” the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, is in fact the largest music event in sub-Saharan Africa.

Doors open on the Friday normally at 6pm and the show ends around midnight. On the Saturday, doors open earlier at 4:30pm and also ends around midnight.
This proudly South African produced event is hosted at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) in downtown, Cape Town each year.
It happens on either the last weekend of March or the first weekend of April each year. Next year, in 2018, the event will happen over the weekend of Friday the 23rd of March and Saturday the 24th of March.
The festival boasts 5 stages, including the famous Rosies stage for serious jazz acts. The programming, which is unique to the The Cape Town International Jazz Festival, is made up of a 50/50 split between South African artists and international artists respectively.
Some stages are indoors and some outdoors. Food, beverage and VIP hospitality is available to patrons.
The festival hosts in excess of 37 000 music lovers over the 2 show days. It is a real who’s who of South Africa and is probably the greatest example of a cross cultural event in Africa, maybe the world? From international celebrties, to the local man and woman in the street, the love of jazz and music in general brings humanity together under one roof, for one reason: To celebrate the joy of jazz.
The Cape Town International Jazz Festival plays an important role in preserving the cultural diversity of the Mother City and is one of Cape Town’s most popular events.
Every year the event is sold out so it is important to book early and avoid disappointment.
