Cumulus Media country “Kicks 101.5” WKHX Atlanta has unveiled its new morning show—“Caddy, CJ and Ali”—pulling in midday host AliMac and pm driver CJ Lusk to join longtime host Cadillac Jack for the revamped program. Former morning cohost Dallas McCade moves to middays, and as earlier reported, takes on music director duties at “Kicks 101.5.”
“This is so stinkin’ exciting,” Lusk said on-air this morning, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. No stranger to waking up early, Lusk anchored mornings on Flinn Broadcasting CHR “Q107.5” WHBQ in Memphis, TN prior to joining “Kicks” in Jan. 2016. Lusk filled in for Cadillac Jack for a month earlier this year as Cadillac recovered from a heart attack. Mac is also an accomplished early morning riser—she was one-half of the “Geoff and Ali in the Morning” show on Vero Beach Broadcasters hot AC WGYL Vero Beach, FL—before coming to “Kicks” as midday host, also in Jan. 2016.
The new trio hit the air with VIP experience giveaways for Darius Rucker, Randy Houser, Brantley Gilbert and Toby Keith and Cadillac introduced a new show segment, “Kickstart the Love,” that will air in the 6am hour, starting the day with some positive news.
With the full daytime lineup changes—a search for a new afternoon talent is underway—the station is also adopting a new slogan, “Georgia’s Country For Life.”
“A phrase that embodies what Kicks 101.5 has meant to Atlanta and North Georgia for years,” program director Scott Lindy said of the new station moniker. “Millions of country fans heard Georgia-born country stars like Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Zac Brown, Thomas Rhett and Billy Currington for the very first time in their lives while listening to Kicks 101.5 and that tradition continues today. The future of country music is what our history is all about.”
