This is an updated version of our previous tribute to Ettienne Botha. When I think of players who should have been a Springbok, this man is top of the list. He was the ideal inside centre, he knew how to create play for his outside backs and he had an amazing eye for a gap. He was a complete player and he was lost too soon.

JP Nel – Midfield Powerhouse

JP Nel was a very, very solif centre for the Bulls in his prime. A highly underrated player who loved running directly and also very aggressive on defense. He was part of the Blue Bulls setup that brought massive success between 2001 and 2009. It’s unfortunate that he never had the opportunity to represent South Africa.
