The so-called Integral Resources Plan of the ANC Government’s broader details in all its various forms must apparently be finalized to be submitted to Cabinet in September this year.
That debate that is currently underway is about what course to take – will it be the coal with its pollution, or nuclear power with its hazardous waste.
The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Gwede Mantashe, should eventually point out the desirability of a particular choice.
He took over Jeff Radebe’s portfolio and now has to move his move to a new direction to the cabinet and convince them which choice is best for the country and its people.
If he prefers nuclear power, thousands of jobs are in the pipeline, and with nuclear as a choice, there are so many obstacles for an African country, that the risk may be much greater than the pollution caused by coal.
