A member of the Ekurhuleni Metro Police (EMPD) in Gauteng has been suspended pending an investigation after videos (below) of him allegedly intoxicated were widely circulated on social media.
Yusuf Abramjee, an anti-crime activist, said in a post on one of the videos on Twitter that the EMPD member almost bumped into a motorcycle rider in Benoni with his official vehicle.
Abramjee further states that the member threatened to shoot the man who made a video of him. However, this could not be confirmed.
The officer was dressed in his uniform. In the videos, the member appears to be under the influence of alcohol, as it sounds like he is talking tow and he does not look steadfast on his feet.
The videos also show that there is liquor on the floor of the passenger seat of his office vehicle and how a colleague takes his firearm from him after it almost fell out of the holster.
