It seems that the implementation of cadre deployment and BBBEE practices are still taking their toll on the embattled national power provider. Eskom confirmed on Monday that the Medupi power station had an explosion on the number 4 unit’s generator, at around 22:50 on Sunday night, and that unit 5 also tripped as a result.
No injuries were reported at the plant and all employees and contractors were accounted for, but emergency services did assist seven workers with the necessary treatment for shock.
