An elderly woman underwent emergency surgery and is temporarily in a wheelchair after a kitchen worker at a care home has knocked her down, she was left helpless with a broken hand on the floor.
Elize Devenish’s (79) family filed a charge of assault with police after a kitchen worker at Ons Tuiste in Engo’s center for the elderly in Bloemfontein knocked her down when she took a cup of yoghurt after breakfast.
Images of the incident shows how Devenish was left on the floor for about five minutes while in pain.
There is an argument between the worker and Devenish first. Then she got up and walked to a table to take the yogurt, after which the worker shoved her. Devenish staggered and fell on the floor, where she was left helplessly.
