BEE now a must for real estate – No BEE certificate no fidelity fund certificate!
In terms of the Real Estate Practice Act, Black economic empowerment (BEE) participation will soon be an obligation in the real estate industry.
Piet Le Roux, CEO of the business organization Sakeliga, is not in favor of the new legislation. He explains that those who previously met the necessary requirements could act as real estate professionals but with the new developments they will now have to have a BEE certificate as a prerequisite.
Le Roux believes that disguising participation in BEE processes as a professional requirement is blatantly harmful, unconstitutional and unfair. He points out that this is unacceptable political interference with the freedom of the industry and the prosperity of the industry for clients as well as the economy.
The new legislation provides that the Real Estate Practices Regulatory Authority may not issue a Fidelity Fund Certificate to any person who does not have a valid BEE certificate. No person may, therefore, act as a rea

Those who are not in favor of the ANC are delighted with the developments: Power struggle amidst ANC ranks – Cadres are turning against each other for office
A complaint filed at the Office of the Public Protector sheds some light on the fierce power struggle in the ranks of the ANC and its government.
The complainant who prefers to remain anonymous claims that Minister Lindiwe Sisulu is playing a chess game to get the deputy president removed from office to take office herself.
The Office of the Public Protector declined to comment on the complaint, strengthening the suspicion that such a complaint was received by Busisiwe Mkhwebane.
According to reports, Minister Lindiwe Sisulu is appointing loyal supporters in her department with the intention of pushing David Mabuza out of office as vice president and then taking the seat herself.
The move suggests that it puts her in a strong position to succeed Ramaphosa, especially if Mabuza’s influence is illuminated and the ANC president will receive much less support without his deputy’s influence.

SAA strike costing R52 million a day and with a bankruptcy record it could mean the end of the entity
More than 3000 workers affiliated with Numsa and Sacca downed tools at SAA on Friday over a wage dispute and plans to cut more than 900 jobs, costing the airline about R52 million a day.
The interim chief financial officer of SAA Deon Fredericks, said the strike was pushing the struggling airline to unsustainable levels. “If this strike continues, we are running the risk of putting SAA out of business,” Fredericks said.
Even though they are working with Mango Airlines to accommodate as many customers travelling on domestic services as possible and refunding passengers their flights or travel with other airlines.
SAA is facing a crippling onslaught by the National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) and the South African Cabin Crew Association (Sacca). The national air-carrier is threatening the unions with legal action if they fail to retract comments that the safety of passengers cannot be guaranteed.
Over the weekend, Numsa said anyone flying with SAA

Another waste of taxpayer’s money! – Millions down the drain as Tshwane houses will have to be demolished and rebuilt
Greater Pretoria’s municipality is in trouble but denies that many homes will have to be demolished and rebuilt.
An abandoned multimillion-rand housing project in Ga-Rankuwa Unit 10 in the City of Tshwane will be demolished and rebuilt at an extra cost after contractual disputes with the contractor who abandoned the project in June this year.
However, according to informed sources, the multi-million Rand housing project in Ga-Rankuwa area is already being demolished to be rebuilt.
According to Gauteng Human Settlements MEC Lebogang Maile, who was responding to written questions tabled in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, an amount of R34,170,591.36 has been spent so far in building these houses. which will go down as waste.
“This is a waste of taxpayers’ money and we can no longer tolerate such abuse,” said Kate Lorimer, the Democratic Alliance (DA) Gauteng shadow MEC for human settlements and COGTA.
She said the housing project was initiated in

Warning! SAA Strike will intensify – Talks between National carrier and striking unions collapse
JOHANNESBURG – Talks between South African Airways (SAA) management and striking workers have collapsed.
Union leaders briefed the media and workers after the parties met on Saturday in an attempt to resolve the strike which began on Friday.
Workers are demanding an 8%wage increase while SAA is offering 5.9%.
According to the National Union for Metalworkers of South Africa’s (Numsa) Phakamile Hlubi-Majola, unions and the national carrier have failed to find each other.
Numsa and the South African Cabin Crew Association (Sacca) have warned they will intensify the strike across all SAA departments.
“If you have workers at the Civil Aviation Authority on strike, it means that none of the planes are going to fly. It’s not just SAA, its all planes”, said Hlubi-Majola.
The struggling state owned airline says its working around the clock to introduce additional capacity on the domestic network.

Oh no, not again! Panic, outrage as Unisa examinations compromised again after exam papers had been leaked
“Oh no, not again!” This was the reaction of University of SA (Unisa) students on social media after the university sent out an email on Friday afternoon to students announcing that exam question papers for the second semester – October and November – had been leaked.
The outrage was swift on social media after the university sent the email to its 400 000 students about the compromised exams.
Unisa also informed the students that an investigation was underway to establish what had happened.
Some students panicked online, speculating which modules were affected.
Others speculated that it could have been the Taxation and Business Activities and Economics papers and the Foundations in English Literacy Studies exam.
Questions were emailed to Martin Ramotshela, the university spokesperson, and to Professor Mandla Makhanya, Unisa’s principal and vice-chancellor, on Friday afternoon.
Ramotshela said yesterday he would only be able to respond tomorr

Speculations confirmed – Telkom wants to take over SA’s third largest mobile phone company
The months-long speculation has now been confirmed by Telkom that it is investigating the possibility of taking over the struggling Cell C.
However, Telkom later confirmed that it had made an offer to the mobile phone company, which was widely regarded as an attempt to replenish its lost customer base.
Although Cell C is the third largest mobile phone company in South Africa, the entity struggles to stay afloat while the other two mobile phone companies operate profitably.
One of the main reasons cited by financial experts is that Cell C, with various rates that are too low, has tried to increase its market share, which is not a successful endeavor.
The large workload of a large top post incumbent is also seen as a reason why the industry has struggled for years to improve its financial standing.

Another leeching SEO sinks – 3000 Prasa employees possibly without work after the wasteful expenditures carried out by ANC cadres
Like almost all other state entities, Prasa seems to be tumbling as well, with the possibility that 3,000 security workers will be retrenched to balance their financial situation.
Prasa had to cancel numerous security contracts, which was trailed by the cancellation of various maintenance and repairs contracts.
With the large number of cancellations, it’s evident that the good times of lavish spending are over for now, economists say.
Serious concerns now exist about the safety of Prasa’s services, with far less security, trains and vehicles not serviced or repaired as the country begins to approach the economic precipice.
