Wild chase of thieves ends in Parys police station with a group of farmers briefly on their heels after a failed stock theft attempt.
A farmer and Pastor of the AGM Church in Vredefort Juan Greef became aware on the evening of Friday 20 December 2019 that about 100 sheep were stolen on his farm. Farmers in the vicinity of the S80 road at Vredefort were warned earlier that cattle thieves were planning to loot sheep.
Greef reported the incident to the Vredefort Dome’s community policing forum, after which members blocked off roads in an attempt to find the cattle thieves.
According to Greef, the thieves drove the sheep through 5 farms, but as far as they walked, they lost some of the sheep.
