The misconduct of police officers is apparently ignored if statistics on complaints against the police are taken into account. Of more than 40,000 charges, all of which are criminal, only 532 cases have led to prosecution of the officers.
Police brutality has been caught on video numerous times by bystanders with cell phones, but thousands of cases are not available as evidence in that way, and as a result, the culprits are getting off scot-free.
The Independent Police Investigation Directorate is apparently unable to properly investigate each case due to a lack of real independence and a poor capacity. This is the opinion of experts who have responded to the reports released in this regard and unconfirmed reports indicate that bribery and corruption are also being experienced at the same levels.
