Oh no, not again! Panic, outrage as Unisa examinations compromised again after exam papers had been leaked

“Oh no, not again!” This was the reaction of University of SA (Unisa) students on social media after the university sent out an email on Friday afternoon to students announcing that exam question papers for the second semester – October and November – had been leaked.

The outrage was swift on social media after the university sent the email to its 400 000 students about the compromised exams.

Unisa also informed the students that an investigation was underway to establish what had happened.

Some students panicked online, speculating which modules were affected.

Others speculated that it could have been the Taxation and Business Activities and Economics papers and the Foundations in English Literacy Studies exam.

Questions were emailed to Martin Ramotshela, the university spokesperson, and to Professor Mandla Makhanya, Unisa’s principal and vice-chancellor, on Friday afternoon.

Limpopo school that failed to reach a 50% matric pass rate has allegedly fabricated marks even though the pupils have not written for exams

Whistle-blower says school fabricated the English examination marks of grades 8, 9 and 11. He says pupils did not even sit for the exams

A Limpopo school that has failed to reach a 50% matric pass for the past three years allegedly fabricated English marks for grades 8, 9 and 11 in March.

The allegation about the fabricated marks was made by Michael Mosomane to the Education Labour Relations Council (ELRC) as part of his submission, which City Press has seen, challenging the termination of his contract by the education department in May.

Mosomane was employed in January as a temporary accounting teacher at Nakedi Secondary in De Vrede village about 130km outside of Polokwane.

He told City Press that he had initially reported the matter to the education department’s offices in Polokwane on May 6 to raise the alarm, but he received no feedback.

Instead, his contract was terminated by the department on May 27, despite it being scheduled to end in December

Matric exam disrupted by load shedding – will power failures now be blamed for poor performance among learners?

The load shed unannounced by the bankrupt power supply led to the disruption in exam rooms where matrics had to stop their exams at dusk.

Nearly 35 schools were disrupted at the same time on Wednesday’s during loadshedding and parents, teachers and pupils were outraged at the unannounced load at the most impossible time when exams were taken.

The Department of Education is awaiting feedback from provinces on the events and the way in which they handled the power failure.

Educators are concerned that the power outage will now be used by the Education Department as an excuse for poor performance.

Phase 2, which will be applicable for Thursday and Friday, means that schools can expect a power outage at any time from 9 am to 11 pm.

Anarchy on the rise in SA – Students burn down Satellite police station – and what does the ANC regime do about it, absolutely nothing

The anarchy of students continues unabated after a satellite police station was set on fire near the Richards Bay campus.

Lectures are suspended and there is no indication when lectures will resume. Meanwhile, students are demanding enhanced security and security measures at the campus.

Informed sources claim that unrest on campuses is now artificially fueled by students who do not do their studies and end up trying to postpone exams, and in some cases even get postponed.

Matric results – SA standard is so low that matric are no longer accepted by most Western countries, and it is also a reason why the university’s pass rate is so high

The 2018 exam has many matriculants in ecstasy about their excellent results, and the ANC government is broad breast over the 78% pass rate reflected.

It is even haunted by statements of “great improvement” over 2017’s results and that the Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, is believed to be South Africa’s best minister.

The pass rate is set at 78.2%, and is apparently a significant improvement over any previous year, with 2017’s 75.1% and 2016’s 72.5%.

The 790,843 students are also the largest number of people who have completed the exam in one year.

There are also the facts that are apparently obscured for political reasons, because once it is taken into account, there is only one long sadness and no reason to get excited.

First, the pass rate of subjects is a mere 30%.
