Gupta brothers: Renewal of SA passports denied

The Department of Home Affairs refused the application for renewal of passports from the Guptas, and with it began another phase to capture the controversial figures.

The Gupta brothers have travelled all over the world with SA passports as if they are citizens of the country.

In the meantime, an attempt is being made to reach an extradition agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to have the Guptas currently located there extradited to South Africa where they will be charged and prosecuted for numerous irregularities.

The allegations were made that the Guptas were the main players in the State hijacking under the Zuma regime, and were also involved in various transactions of which the Vrede Dairy Farm is one.

SA wants Guptas to pay for their part in the state-capture saga, but whether Emirates will extradite them is another matter

There is no truth in the allegations that a delegation from South Africa is to the Emirates and will return with the Guptas.

It has been confirmed that a delegation has indeed travelled to the United Arab Emirates to negotiate the possibility of the extradition of the Guptas, but it may take months before the extradition takes place if the negotiations are carried out successfully.

The delegation, however, is not only focused on the Gupta case, and is said to be discussing other matters with the Emirate government.

Whether negotiations on the Guptas’ extradition will be successful is uncertain, and opinion polls suggest the Guptas may decide to leave the Emirates before a final settlement with South Africa is made.

The delegation of ministers and law enforcement officials is expected to hold talks in Abu Dhabi with representatives of the Emirate government.

US Treasury impose huge sanctions on the Guptas that will cause the brothers’ business operations to be severely curtailed not to mention the possibility to be jailed for state capture

Chickens are coming home to roost in all corners of the globe for the Guptas. The US Treasury have essentially “excluded” them from their financial system.

Some huge breaking news is reaching us from the USA. The Gupta brothers are under heavy pressure after the US announced that it is imposing sanctions on the family, making it difficult for the brothers to do business. The US Treasury have condemned the Guptas and their associates for “running a significant corruption network” in South Africa. A statement released end of last week detailed the reasons why the Indian billionaires have now essentially been excluded from the American financial system. Opinions say the US plan to impose sanctions on the Guptas will cause the brothers’ business operations to be severely curtailed.

Political analysts believe that extradition could mean that the three brothers who were at the head of state capture will be jailed for many years.

However, Sun City spokesman Zoleka Skweyiya says it is not as much as the media speculates.

It is unclear how much money is outstanding from the estimated R100 million wedding, and the possibility of recovery does not seem to be good.
