Cases for Cash? For an 8th straight day South Africa has reported the 4th most daily new COVID19 cases (chart below) which has helped push SA into 5th place worldwide, eclipsing many countries far more populace and undeveloped than itself, like Indonesia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Mexico, etc. Even more remarkable is that 4 of the top 5 most infected countries are BRICs countries – all of them are in the top 5 except China, where it all started, coincidence? Even though China is the most populace country in the world? Did the access and clout that Chinese citizens have in BRICs countries help spread the virus? Or does the fact that South Africa and India have received 1 BILLION dollar Covid Loans from the BRICs Development Bank explain the high figures?

Department of Health: Medical negligence claims increase to more than R104 billion in 2019 due to extremely poor medic services in health sector

Claims of patients instituted due to medical negligence by the state’s institutions have risen dramatically, highlighting the extremely poor medical services in the health sector.

Over the past four years to 2019, more than R104 billion has been claimed by patients or their relatives against the Department of Health.

Observers point out that this is a clear indication of the quality of health services in state entities, which according to statistics is a four-fold increase in claims over the previous four-year term.

The claims are largely due to negligence in government hospitals, and people who do not have a medical scheme are the victims because they have no alternative solution.

South Africa’s health sector currently has a nationwide shortage of a vital vaccine that is used for the prevention of diphtheria as well as a vaccine to prevent tetanus.

The shortage not only left parents frustrated, but caused anger and anxiety because their loved one’s overall condition was threatened.

The shortfall of vaccine is a serious threat to children’s health and can lead to deaths that could be prevented.
