Eskom with a debt burden of R450 billion may be the downfall of ANC regime

Political analysts say the actions of high-ranking officials in Eskom could lead to the demise of the ANC government.

The pressure is mounting on the ruling ANC regime from the inner circles as well as opposing structures as well as from extreme groups to act against those responsible for the mess in which the power supplier is currently facing its debt burden of R450 billion.

The claims are varied, but many expect the ANC to take action against Public Enterprise Minister Pravin Gordhan, who is closely concerned with Eskom’s problems.

The Red Brigade is demanding Gordhan’s sacking, while Deputy President David Mabuza himself helped to throw Gordhan under the bus.

There is also a feud against Ramaphosa, from people who believe he should have forced Eskom to stay with his company in order not to employ any loadshedding before January 13.

Late businessman, Richard Maponya, who owned a string of businesses in Soweto, including the famous Maponya Mall in Pimville, was laid to rest at West Park Cemetery in Johannesburg on Tuesday, January 14, 2020.

Maponya’s funeral service was held at the University of Johannesburg Soweto Campus on Tuesday morning. Ramaphosa declared the funeral a Special Official Funeral, category 2 – which meant that all state flags had to be flown at half-mast until the evening of the burial.

Taxpayers fork out more than R76m for funeral cost of ANC veterans

Public Works Minister Patricia de Lille has vowed to act against officials implicated in irregular expenditure related to the late stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s funeral and those of two other ANC veterans.

It’s alleged a service provider inflated invoices, costing taxpayers a staggering R76 million.

De Lille has reportedly recommended that government should cap state funerals.

The minister said those implicated must be called to account.

“This is an ongoing investigation. We will make sure that we get to the bottom of this. We have already taken action against four senior officials in the department.”

De Lille reveals over 3,000 Public Works employees do business with department and 300 of those employees have their own companies

Patricia De Lille says more needs to be done to ensure people who work for the state don’t do business with the department

Public Works Minister Patricia de Lille has revealed more than 3,700 Public Works employees are doing business with the department.

She said 300 of those employees have their own companies and, in some instances, they had not declared the conflict of interest to the department.

The latest shocking revelations come as the Public Works Department investigates irregular expenditure relating to three state funerals that cost taxpayers a whopping R76 million.

It’s alleged a service provider inflated invoices for the funerals of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, former minister Zola Skweyiya and former chief of state protocol Billy Modise.

De Lille said more needed to be done to ensure people who work for the state don’t do business with the department.

Then some wonder how we could “lose” Trillions since ’94.

Brace yourself for stage 8 #RollingBlackOuts or 10-hour daily blackout, as municipalities are preparing for the worst

Eskom was forced to implement stage 6 load shedding in December – its worst ever blackout – sending the country into a panic as not many people were aware of what that stage actually meant for them.

Municipalities too, were caught off-guard, with Johannesburg electricity distributor City Power saying at the time that it had no load-shedding schedule for Stage 6.

The year is 2020, and generation and maintenance challenges continue to mount at the state company which generates 96% of South Africa’s electricity.

As a result, all municipalities have been advised to adjust their load shedding schedule up to stage 8, the Buffalo City Municipality said in a statement on Saturday (11 January).

With each stage representing a curtailment of 5% of the national load, stage 8 will equate to 40% of the load being shed, the municipality said.

First major illegal land invasions of 2020 commence in Tshwane’s Silverlakes and Boschkop areas

Following the first major land invasions of 2020 in Tshwane’s Silverlakes and Boschkop areas, business organisation Sakeliga today issued a warning to business and the public to guard against increasingly shrewd land invasion tactics by the EFF.

Over the course of several days this week, small groups of land invaders claiming to be from the EFF attempted to seize land held by developers to the North East of Pretoria. Striking at several sites around Silverlakes and Boschkop in the Tshwane area, invaders sought to clear “stands” on the properties, even naming these future settlements “Winnie Mandela View” with apparently at least three extensions thereto.

Mboweni has a screw loose, he now wants to open Lesotho’s borders to form one-state with SA

It looks like Tito Mboweni has lost it completely. He issued a statement on social media stating that Lesotho must open its borders to form a federal state with South Africa.

This follows the political crisis in Lesotho. The country’s first “lady” is currently in flight after an arrest warrant was issued against her for the murder of the prime minister’s second wife. The European Union, the United Nations and the SA Development Community have been struggling to stabilize the situation in the neighboring country for 10 years.

Thousands of Basuto migrants and refugees are already living in South Africa. With a country like South Africa struggling to get its own affairs in order, it is futile to add another country that is plagued by riots and mismanagement as a federal state.

Livestock theft from Lesotho is already escalating in South Africa as thieves from the Mountain Kingdom supplement their “food shortages”.

Not at all something to be proud of! – SA has a third-rated army. Soldiers are poorly trained – Strength is equivalent to what it was in 1930

South Africa already seems to have a third-rated army, and its soldiers are not only poorly trained in warfare, but they also have a number of crooks in their ranks.

According to investigators, the recent burglary and theft of a number of army guns could not have happened without the cooperation of army members.

This is not the first time firearms have been “lost” by the military, and opinion-makers believe that much greater clutter is happening behind the scenes that remain to be discovered.

Concerns have been expressed that the weapons could be used in farm attacks and other robberies and that the police will not find the weapons and the culprits on time.

Four years ago, an independent body found that SA’s military had weakened to a level equivalent to what it was in 1930.

Bankrupt Eskom holds ANC regime hostage with ongoing #RollingBlackOuts

It is not only the ANC’s president who lied to foreign countries and in parliament about SA’s condition but also sustained on another lie.

Eskom said he would ensure that no load shedding will be applied before January 13, and then the ANC’s Cyril Ramaphosa believed the lie and went on to sell the lying story to the whole of South Africa.

On January 5, #RollingBlackOuts shook the country with Phase 2 that lasted until 5am this morning.

This is because the poor workmanship at Medupi power station had to be blamed again for a conveyor belt breaking.

The fact that Koeberg had already supplied only 50% of its capacity throughout December was only announced on January 4.

Experts have told Die Vryburger it is becoming clearer that Eskom is holding the ANC government hostage because they want to pay performance bonuses of R1.5bn amid their bankruptcy.

Power consumers say that the only performance Eskom is rendering is to anger its consumers.
