The six senior members of the ANC’s executive committee met on Monday to discuss a new development from the disgraced Ace Magashule, who has gone to the High court with a semi-urgent application, to have the ANC party’s decision to suspend him as Secretary General, reviewed by the High court.
The legal process to resolve the dispute could now take weeks, and gives Ace more time before having to make an apology to the country and Ramaphosa.
Magashule’s appeal to the court claims that the decision of the ANC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to suspend him, was based on the principle of him having to “stand aside” while he is being prosecuted, but Magashule says he can only be suspended if he is found guilty of a crime.
Some ANC members have responded saying the “stand aside” resolution has nothing to do with the internal disciplinary process for corrupt people, but there are also those who think Magashule might be right, depending on what was actually agreed
