#EndCadreDeployment – The official opposition, the Democratic Alliance (DA), wrote to the Acting Speaker of the National Assembly, Lechesa Tsenoli, calling for a Parliamentary debate on the socialist cadre deployment program, implemented by the African National Congress (ANC), because they believe it led to the collapse of the state. They stressed this request is a matter of national importance.

According to the DA, the blame must also be laid at the feet of Cyril Ramaphosa, who was the chairman of the ANC’s cadre deployment committee during Jacob Zuma’s term.

#EndCadreDeployment Die amptelike opposisie, die Demokratiese Alliansie (DA), het aan die waarnemende speaker van die nasionale vergadering, Lechesa Tsenoli, geskryf en gevra vir ‘n parlementêre debat oor die sosialistiese kaderontplooiing wat deur die African National Congress (ANC) toegepas word, omdat hulle glo dit het gelei tot die ineenstorting van die staat. ANC Cadres Score R70 Billion No Strings Attached IMF Loan That YOU Have to Pay Back!

Communists Love Spending Other People’s Money: Even though corrupt ANC has steered clear of IMF loans thus far, because they require financial transparency and discipline, the COVID-19 pandemic and Black Privilege has allowed the ANC government to get a loan, without an IMF structural adjustment programme, despite the IMF being deeply suspicious of ANC and COSATU. Seizing the opportunity the Corona Virus has afforded them, the ANC grabbed 100% of South Africa’s IMF quota.

The IMF loan amount of $4.3 billion (R70.6 billion) is allegedly to help mitigate the adverse socio-economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, however it is unlikely that that is where the lion’s share of the relief package will go, as the IMF is “respecting” the ANC’s decisions on how best to provide relief for the economy, and ANC gets to decide who is worst affected by the current crisis. Gangsterism and cutting off your nose to spite your face, seems to be a recurring theme in #TheAfricanWay: Amsterdam in Mpumalanga has instituted its own internal electricity revolving power cuts, of 5 hours per day, and the Mayor refuses to speak English at community feedback meetings.

The Mkhondo (Piet Retief) municipality serving Amsterdam in Mpumalanga has now also instituted “internal” load shedding on top of Eskom’s own load shedding. The community is in uproar over an additional 5 hours per day load shedding, on top of the scheduled Eskom load shedding. Giel Coetzer, a businessman in town says his business is at a standstill and everyone’s food and meat is rotting in their fridges. The local mayor, Vusi Motha, was supposed to address a multiracial meeting of both black and white residents last week, but he and other officials arrived an hour and a half late. Nyanda and Trevor Manual Drop Bombshells – Guptas Wielded Significant Influence in the Appointment and Dismissal of Ministers

Siphiwe Nyanda, former cabinet minister told the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture today that he met with the Gupta brothers in the presence of former president Jacob Zuma’s son Duduzane Zuma. They introduced themselves and their company, Sahara Computers and indicated a desire to have a private meeting with him.

Under his portfolio as communications minister, Nyanda had oversight over the SABC, Icasa, Films and Publications Board and Brand SA, among others. The Guptas are suspected to have wielded significant influence in the appointment and dismissal of ministers who could further their business interests.

Nyanda’s meeting with the Guptas fell through because he was fired by Zuma during one of the former president’s cabinet reshuffles.

Earlier in the day, former finance minister Trevor Manuel testified that the reshuffle was aimed at replacing reluctant ministers with pliable ones who would work to further the business interests

Juju and land grabs: How to interpret the Trespass Acts and Riotous Assemblies

The case of Julius Malema and AfriForum is an interesting one, as it exposes the complexity of running a democratic country with laws that once were used as instruments of oppression.

Malema is by no means an unfortunate target in this instance. His rise to power with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) was founded on tapping into the core of the frustrations of the poor.

Land, employment, nationalisation and ‘white monopoly capital’ are just some of the instruments the EFF uses, to this day, to rally up the support of the majority in this country.

In 2014 he engaged crowds in Bloemfontein and Newcastle (Kwa-Zulu Natal) respectively, he got himself in trouble.

AfriForum, responding to Malema’s calls for people to occupy vacant, filed charges against the EFF leader, citing the Rioutous Assemblies Act, as well as the Trespass Act, as reasons why he should be prosecuted.

Ramaphosa’s government doesn’t have an economic policy. All that’s been forthcoming is a stimulus package, plus two summits.

As the entrails of the era under South Africa’s former president Jacob Zuma continue to be exposed each day before a commission set up to investigate corruption, so the country witnesses the consolidation of the political project spearheaded by the new head of state Cyril Ramaphosa.

But a key piece of the puzzle is missing: Ramaphosa’s government doesn’t have an economic policy. All that’s been forthcoming is a stimulus package, plus two summits – one on jobs, the other on investment. Do these add up to an economic policy?
