Monkeys Running the Zoo, or is that Thieves Running the Bank? After a months long remuneration increase battle between the ANC Civil Services sector, with the Unions allied as partners against the ANC government, the issues could not be resolved, so they are now heading to the ANC’s Constitutional Court to find a solution or agreement. Yet some time ago it was announced that the ANC government did not have the money to offer salary increases, because all the money was spent in large scale systemic and institutional corruption.

SA-News reported yesterday that Eskom dishes out all sorts of reasons as an excuse why it does not have sufficient “working equipment” or “generating capacity,” despite massive amounts of money being spent. In plain English: Corruption & Plunder.

Wanneer hansworse die sirkus beheer, of is dit diewe wat die Bank beheer? Na ‘n maande lange stryd oor salarisverhogings tussen die ANC-staatsdiensektor, met die vakbonde as vennote teen die ANC-regering, kon die kwessies nie opgelos word nie, so hulle gaan nou na die ANC se konstitusionele hof om te ‘n oplossing te vind. ‘n Ruk gelede is aangekondig dat die ANC-regering nie geld het om salarisverhogings aan te bied nie, omdat al die geld gemors is aan grootskaalse sistemiese en institusionele korrupsie.

Nuus.net het gister berig dat Eskom allerhande redes opskryf as ‘n verskoning waarom dit nie oor voldoende “werktoerusting” of “opwekkingsvermoë” beskik nie, ondanks groot hoeveelhede geld wat bestee word. In gewone Afrikaans: Korrupsie & Plunder.

Die twee grootste vakbonde wat werkers verteenwoordig by Eskom, NUM en NUMSA (Dumb en Dumber Dalk?), het voelers al uitgesit om minstens 15% salaris verhogings te beding vir hulle lede, wat natuurlik ‘n 15 % verhoging in hul eie inkomste sal beteken.

Die National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) en die National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) se motivering agter die groot salaris verhogings

is aangesien hulle daardeur meer ledegeld invorder, maar ook omdat dit meer lede sal aantrek. Die produktiwiteit en lewensvatbaarheid van die myne is die laaste ding waaraan hulle dink, al kan dit hul lede se werke kos.

Dit vakbonde het die aankondiging gemaak nadat gerugte rondgegaan het dat die ANC staatsamptenare en die werkers by Staatsentiteite se salarisse vir drie jaar wil vries. Die multi-kulturele Solidariteit wil glo beding vir 9,5% vir sy lede, terwyl die regering glo daarop ingestel is om geen verhogings toe te staan nie.Continue reading…

When Zuma said “corruption” is a European word, he meant corruption itself in African culture is normal & OK, it is just Europeans who choose to make it a bad thing. At SAA, like everywhere else, they did it #TheAfricanWay. The truth is, wide scale corruption was revealed at SAA before the Zondo commission. It seems wherever there was a black man or woman in charge of anything, there was theft, fraud & corruption. 

Seems Zuma was telling the truth and it really does look like corruption is embedded in the African culture. Let us take the case of “Adv.” Nontsasa Memela, who was head of acquisition for SAA Technical (SAAT). Being African and not seeing anything wrong with corruption, she openly sat in front of the Zondo commission and lied. Like elsewhere, a lot of money was lost at SAA through corruption, bringing the entire enterprise to the brink.

Pravin Gordhan says cash-strapped SAA may have no money for salaries this month

Minister of Public Enterprises Pravin Gordhan has warned that, while two unions at SAA are demanding salary increases for members, the airline might not even be able to pay any salaries at the end of the month.

The minister was speaking at a Parliamentary briefing on Wednesday. The meeting was called for feedback on power utility Eskom, but Gordhan – who met with unions on Tuesday – also made some remarks about SA’s cash-strapped national airline.

The minister said the strike was worsening the airline’s financial crisis. “SAA doesn’t have enough cash to possibly even pay salaries at the end of the month,” he said. “Not only will people not get increases but they might not even get their salaries,” he added.

Members of the National Union of Metalworkers of SA and the SA Cabin Crew Association have been on strike since Friday over wages, proposed job cuts and the demand that more workers be insourced.

New white CEO of Eskom not welcomed with open arms – Numsa: ‘De Ruyter’s appointment as Eskom CEO an insult to Africans’

The recent appointment of Andre de Ruyter to the position of Eskom CEO has been met with mixed emotions, particularly by trade unions and fervent supporters of the Radical Economic Transformation (RET) agenda.

Although the African National Congress (ANC) has welcomed the appointment of de Ruyter, at a time when Eskom is teetering on the brink of both operational and financial collapse, union allies have been less hospitable.

SAA strike costing R52 million a day and with a bankruptcy record it could mean the end of the entity

More than 3000 workers affiliated with Numsa and Sacca downed tools at SAA on Friday over a wage dispute and plans to cut more than 900 jobs, costing the airline about R52 million a day.

The interim chief financial officer of SAA Deon Fredericks, said the strike was pushing the struggling airline to unsustainable levels. “If this strike continues, we are running the risk of putting SAA out of business,” Fredericks said.

Even though they are working with Mango Airlines to accommodate as many customers travelling on domestic services as possible and refunding passengers their flights or travel with other airlines.

SAA is facing a crippling onslaught by the National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) and the South African Cabin Crew Association (Sacca). The national air-carrier is threatening the unions with legal action if they fail to retract comments that the safety of passengers cannot be guaranteed.

Warning! SAA Strike will intensify – Talks between National carrier and striking unions collapse

JOHANNESBURG – Talks between South African Airways (SAA) management and striking workers have collapsed.

Union leaders briefed the media and workers after the parties met on Saturday in an attempt to resolve the strike which began on Friday.

Workers are demanding an 8%wage increase while SAA is offering 5.9%.

According to the National Union for Metalworkers of South Africa’s (Numsa) Phakamile Hlubi-Majola, unions and the national carrier have failed to find each other.

Numsa and the South African Cabin Crew Association (Sacca) have warned they will intensify the strike across all SAA departments.

“If you have workers at the Civil Aviation Authority on strike, it means that none of the planes are going to fly. It’s not just SAA, its all planes”, said Hlubi-Majola.

The struggling state owned airline says its working around the clock to introduce additional capacity on the domestic network.
