‘As harsh as it may sound, we need to break this whole house down and rebuild it. It’s as simple as that, because it won’t happen from within.’

The extent to which Cricket South Africa (CSA) was captured by a small group of people has been exposed in increasingly glaring detail over the past 10 days. This situation can be traced back to the start of current chief executive Thabang Moroe’s tenure in late 2017.

Hundreds of pages of court documents, emails and reports in Daily Maverick’s possession, as well as interviews with seven key figures paint a picture of the leadership of an organisation that was increasingly authoritarian.

Below are some of the problems Moroe, president Chris Nenzani and the CSA board have created or failed to adequately address. Reflected also are areas where there has been a failure to fulfil their duties in the best interests of cricket.

With love from the incompetent ANC-regime – 28,000 jobs lost in Q3, unemployment in the SA stands at around 29.1%.

Stats SA says South Africa lost 28,000 jobs in the third quarter compared to the quarter before.

It has released its third quarter employment figures but shows that 78,000 jobs were actually created compared to the same quarter last year.

Unemployment in the country stands at around 29.1%.

Stats SA said that losses were seen in construction and manufacturing – which lost about 12,000 jobs each – while community services lost 11,000; business services 9,000; and transport 1,000.

On the other hand, figures showed that 849,000 jobs were created in the past four years.

Stats SA also looked at the health of businesses in the country.

The number of liquidations increased by 56.4% year-on-year for November.

Compulsory liquidations increased by 41 cases while voluntary liquidations increased by 38 cases.

And on a different note, average monthly earnings increased by 2.6% quarter-on-quarter and increased by 3.7% year-on-year.

FARM ATTACK, North West Province – “Kill the Boer slogan” shows this is a racism attack

Attackers entered the farm of the Nicholson’s, they spray painted in red paint the words “Kill the Boer” on the farm manager’s bakkie (a light truck or pickup truck) and then set it on fire.
This attack took place on a farm in Buffelspoort, North West province of South Africa.

The Day of the Vow (Afrikaans: Geloftedag) was a religious public holiday in South Africa. It is an important holiday for Afrikaners, originating from the Battle of Blood River on 16 December 1838.

Initially called Dingane’s Day (Afrikaans: Dingaansdag), 16 December was made an annual national holiday in 1910, before being renamed Day of the Vow in 1982.

In 1994, after the end of Apartheid, it was replaced by the Day of Reconciliation, an annual holiday also on 16 December. However, For the Boer people, this day will always remain the Day of Vow because it is the day on which the Boerevolk was established.

Sex education taken to far in SA – 120 000 teenage pregnancies recorded in 2019 – Comprehensive sexuality education not been successful in ensuring a decrease in pregnancies

The DA has said the more than 120 000 teenage pregnancies between age 10 and 19 as at June 2019 should raise alarm bells in the country.

“Sexuality education in schools should focus on pregnancy prevention in schools but also awareness needs to be raised in communities,” DA MP Chantel King said.

King made the statement following a report in Independent Media on Friday which showed that the number of teenage pregnancies has increased in the 2018-19 financial year to 124 628 births, including those school-going children still at primary school level.

KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, Limpopo and Gauteng are leading the pack with the high number of teenage pregnancies.

This was revealed by Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga in a written response to a parliamentary question from King.

King had asked Motshekga the number of pupils who fell pregnant between June 2018 and June 2019 and their age groups.

Snake Drive in Benoni near N12 will be closed for a long time due to sinkhole

Sinkhole swallowed a portion of Snake Drive near the N12 in Benoni, according to William Ntladi, spokesman for the Ekurhuleni emergency services, working with several engineers to determine the cause of the sinkhole and to make plans for that hole on one of the southbound lanes collapsed.

Ntladi said both lanes were closed indefinitely for the safety of motorists.

Maroela Media earlier reported that the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport had warned motorists at the beginning of November against the sinking four meters deep.

Footage of the sinkhole has been circulated on social media this week in which it appears that this hole is much larger in the face of heavy rain this week. However, Ntladi said Thursday morning that the hole is no bigger than mid-November.

Earlier this year, the road was predicted to be ready for use by the middle of next year.

Consumer inflation rate is now at its lowest level in nine years

The alleged drop in the consumer inflation rate, which is now at its lowest level in nine years, is called into question by many economic experts.

Although the decline has been welcomed by some agencies, consumers say the decline is certainly not credible as food, fuel and clothing prices are constantly rising.

However, the South African Reserve Bank came under pressure with the announcement to adjust interest rates downward.

Allegedly, consumer price inflation fell during November to the level of 3.6% in the Reserve Bank framework, which set the rate between 3 and 6% as acceptable.

White slaughter continues – Farm manager brutally tortured during Mooi River farm attack,KZN

A violent and brutal farm attack too place on Tuesday night, 10 December 2019, in Mooi River, KwaZulu Natal province. A farm manager, Rodger Huntley, who is debilitated by a past stroke was attacked and tortured in his home by two attackers. The attackers demanded firearms and money and severely tortured Huntley.

Huntley who is in his late sixty’s took nearly an hour to crawl to neighbors for help having suffered lacerations to his head and chin and was bruised all over his head and face. Huntley who does not have a firearm was beaten relentlessly by the attackers.

Huntley’s vehicle was later recovered in Ladysmith. There is no other information available at this stage. Huntley is in a stable condition.

Janus Walus killer of communist Chris Hani – Supreme Court rules that the minister must decide on his fate

Northern Gauteng High Court on Thursday ruled that new Justice Minister Ronald Lamola should decide whether or not to release Janus Walus, who killed communist Chris Hani, on parole.

Walus asked the court to reverse former Justice and Correctional Services Minister Michael Masutha’s decision to release him on parole and deport him to Poland, his native country. Walus’s legal team argues that Masutha’s decision to refuse parole was unfair and irrational.

Walus has been serving more than 25 years in prison for the murder of Hani, former leader of the South African Communist Party.

The court reversed Masutha’s decision to deny Walus parole, but referred the case back to new Justice Minister Ronald Lamola. They now have 60 days to rethink the matter. “Although Walus is eligible for parole, it is not a given that he should be released,” Judge Jody Kollapen said in his ruling.
