FF+ Requests Microchips for Weapons of ANC Security Structures & Police After 279 Weapons go Missing

During a meeting of the Gauteng community safety committee, the FF Plus proposed that all firearms belonging to ANC safety structures be fitted with a microchip.

The proposal came after the MEC for community safety, Faith Mazibuko, answered a question from the FF Plus, admitting that 279 state firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition have been reported missing or stolen, in the past three years.

Criminals currently being detained in prisons will be released on warning in terms of emergency regulations published in the Government Gazette on Tuesday. Clearly Law and Order and Social Cohesion is not high on the ANC agenda, but then that is not something you would expect from communists.

Release of 14,647 criminal – political prison gets no mercy while thugs and murderers will soon be back on the streets – What is Ramaphosa trying to achieve?

As a gesture of reconciliation, the president of South Africa has informed 14 647 criminals that he will suspend their prison sentence and that they will be on the streets again soon. On the street? To rob and plunder?

These people have not yet all been rehabilitated and most of them will probably be guilty of a crime shortly after release.

Even from the black ranks, Ramaphosa has been accused of “striking the face” of South Africans and law enforcement – the Inkatha Freedom Party said.

Questions are being asked about political prisons that have remained in prison since the apartheid era and will receive no presidential grace.

New scam doing the round in SA, people are now renting dead bodies to scam life insurers

South Africans are renting, and buying, dead bodies to make false funeral claims, a report by the Association for Savings and Investment South Africa (ASISA) says.

Life insurers rejected 1,915 funeral claims worth R176.4 million in 2018, of which 1,127 were found to involve fraudulent documentation.

Another 156 fraudulent claims showed syndicate involvement – and in seven cases beneficiaries were found to have caused the death of the policyholder.

Funeral policies don’t require blood tests and medical examinations and are designed to pay out quickly when an insured family member dies.

“Unfortunately, this makes it tempting for criminals and dishonest individuals to take out funeral cover for people who do not exist with the intention of later submitting claims using death certificates issued for dead bodies rented or bought for the purpose of committing fraud,” Donovan Herman, convenor of the ASISA Claims Standing Committee, says.

This is a call to awareness for all South Africans. The Holidays are here, it is time to rest and have a break. But Oorgrens Veiligheid wishes to remind you to remain vigilant. Even when you’re going in holiday or camping in the bush. The enemy sadly is not going on holiday.

Do you feel his foul breath in your neck? Not? Feel again! Far too often we read that during farm attacks people were tied up and could only call for help well after the attack and that the farm murder victims couldn’t or didn’t make alarm in time.

And we read too little that farm attacks were averted or that attackers have been arrested.

Vandals tear R6.6m car wash apart, Tshwane spokesperson blames the weather

A multimillion-rand car wash project owned by the city of Tshwane which was meant to create jobs for the youth of Mamelodi and invigorate the economy of the township, has descended into dilapidation.

SowetanLIVE reported that the Reitiretse integrated vehicle washing facility in Mamelodi west has been stripped by criminals, before it even opened its doors.

The R6.6m facility now looks a far cry from the day it was launched amid fanfare in November 2015.

When Sowetan visited the facility on Thursday, the structures had lost their roofs and door frames, while the toilet block has been stripped of the toilet seats and basins. The windows and other fittings had been vandalised.

Reitiretse was launched by former Tshwane mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa and Gauteng premier David Makhura. At the time, the car wash premises included a fully equipped laundromat and a fully equipped hair salon.

SA legal system fails country’s residents – criminals get away with crimes where only 1 in 40 hijackers is charged with crimes

Of the more than 16,000 hijacking incidents reported in the 2018/19 year, few of the offenders were eventually punished for their offenses.

Figures released show that one in every 40 hijackers is actually arrested and charged with their crimes.

However, it is not just the criminals who get away with their crimes, because only 9% of sex offenders end up behind bars.

Observers believe that the justice system is failing the country’s residents, and that the ineffective functioning of the police and other security forces is on the rise.

Police woman rents out her service pistol to criminals for R30 000 to rob her units office

A 34-year-old female constable from Bloemfontein was arrested on Tuesday night after renting out her service pistol to criminals to rob her unit’s office in for alleged firearms, including assault rifles to be used in other crimes.

According to the Hawks national spokesman, Brig. Hangwani Mulaudzi the police’s intelligence unit in Bloemfontein and officers from the Hawks’ serious crime investigation unit have set a trap for the officer. Police used undercover cops that they posed as criminals. The constable was captured after allegedly “borrowing her weapon for the criminals” to carry out the robbery. Mulaudzi says she apparently told the the undercover cops which firearms are in the safe at her office. They met the officer at about 22:00 at a gas station in King Edward Road in Willows, Bloemfontein, showed her the “stolen firearms” and paid her R30 000 for the use of her service pistol.

SA’s prisons could run out of beds as crime rate surges

The growing crime rate and rise in life sentences meted out to offenders may mean that there won’t be enough beds for criminals in SA’s prisons.

The department of correctional services has conceded that it is worried about over-crowding which is on a steady rise, as evidenced by the latest shocking crime statistics.

The department is forced to be creative to deal with this dilemma and is looking at a host of measures to ease the “stubborn pressures of incarceration, forever increasing due to high crime levels”.

The department believes that the judiciary should consider other forms of punishment instead of sending all criminals to jail.

For example, less serious crimes should lead to a sentence of community correctional supervision, the department said.

It also wants a debate on whether incarceration is the most effective form of rehabilitation for some offenders.
