On 14 August it was the Afrikaans Language’s birthday and it is commemorated as the birthday of Afrikaans because on this date of 14 August 1875, the Society of True Afrikaners (GRA) was founded in Paarl. Therefore, Afrikaans is 146 years old this year. During this period, Afrikaans was expanded to an academic and scientific language which, according to Prof Wannie Carstens, a well-known linguist, is one of five requirements for the survival of any language. well, until globalism arrived…

Controversial Panyaza Lesufi’s online registration system plunges schools across SA into total chaos

The placement of pupils by the Department of Education has created new crises, leaving parents and pupils furious.

Cases have been reported from certain schools in the Central Transvaal region that are hopelessly overcrowded, which have apparently been criticized for evading the truth many pupils have not even be placed yet.

What is alarming, however, is that pupils are so misplaced that they are now up to 40 km away from the school they have to travel to every day.

The chaos that prevailed at many schools on the first day of school was fiercely denied by Gauteng spokesperson Lesufi of the education department

Educators believe that whites should immediately take their children out of the crowded classrooms and place them in private schools where adequate space and good teaching methods are applied.

Panyaza Lesufi could be replaced as Gauteng education MEC if AfriForum gets its way

AfriForum’s campaign demanding the removal of Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi from office began on Wednesday with an online petition calling for his removal.

The minority-rights organisation said it would also hand over a memorandum to Gauteng premier David Makhura at his offices in the Johannesburg CBD on Thursday, in which it will ask that Lesufi be dismissed.

Before handing over the memorandum, AfriForum said it will start by laying criminal charges at the Johannesburg Central police station relating to the education department’s alleged misappropriation of more than R900m.

AfriForum announced on Tuesday that it would launch its campaign to remove Lesufi when it responded to a statement by the department that 14,000 grade 1 and grade 8 learners had not been placed in schools.

The department outlined measures it would take to ensure that the remaining 14,617 prospective grade 1 and grade 8 pupils were placed in schools by the end of the month. It

Lesufi stirring havoc! Gauteng Department of Education might place Afrikaans learners in township schools

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) will now introduce English and Afrikaans as the language of teaching and learning in township schools, in an effort to accommodate displaced learners in this province.

This is a statement by the GDE on Tuesday. According to this, the department will help schools that received few enrollments for 2020 to appoint qualified teachers who can teach in English and Afrikaans. These schools are mostly located in townships and some have received only 16 applications for gr. 1- or gr. 8 learners to attend school here next year.

The civil rights organization AfriForum will now demand in a letter written to the Gauteng Prime Minister and ask that the Education MEC in Gauteng, Panyaza Lesufi, resign. “We will also file criminal charges for corruption and malpractice within the GDE under the leadership of Lesufi,” said Carien Bloem, AfriForum’s education coordinator. Police and and Gauteng Department of Education officials held hostage by the community in protest for new school

Frustrated parents and community members in Roodepoort, decided to take the law in to their hands after being let down by the GDE on numerous occasions.

Roodepoort Police and Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) officials were recently held hostage by furious parents and community members from Durban Deep at the Durban Deep Primary School.

Apparently, the GDE has not kept its promises to build a new school with new infrastructure for the community.

Frustrated parents and community members decided to take the law into their own hands after being let down by the GDE on numerous occasions.

In a meeting that took place at the school on the morning of 13 February, between parents, Roodepoort Police officers and officials of GDE, the community members decided to take action and show their frustration.
